Racn Ray Souchet
2000 Busa 180HP!
50 pounds lighter than a stock busa
currently over 59,000 miles
The seed for CRT was planted way back in
1973. Here's how it all started...
Born and raised in South Florida Ray Souchet
got his introduction to motorcycles when his dad brought home a Suzuki
125 enduro in December 1973. Even though it took a very frustrating 2
hours to get the hang of the clutch and throttle coordination to actually
go for his first ride, a lifelong love affair for motorcycles was born.
Ray bought his first bike a year later, a Suzuki 125 motocrosser, making
his entry into the So. Fla. motocross scene, and raced motocross into
the early eighties.
Although Ray's training in the seventies was aimed at a career in auto
mechanics, his love for motorcycles and increasing ability to maintain
and repair his and his families motorcycles would help influence him to
travel a different path. In September 1976, a job opening for a helper
at a local dealership became available, and that job put an end to his
auto mechanics career, and officially started what is now over 32 years
in the motorcycle business.
From 1976 through 1982, Ray worked at two different dealerships in many
capacities, from floor sweeper and motorcycle assembler to mechanic and
Service Manager.
In 1982 Ray left the dealership scene and went to work for, what was at
the time South Florida's only complete motorcycle machine shop. In his
8-1/2 years there, he further developed specialized skills including custom
fabrication, flow bench analysis of cylinder heads and the appropriate
methods of porting and competition valve jobs, cylinder boring, engine
building, and full bike preparation, and so many other aspects of motorcycle
performance modifications.
During this time Ray's trusty KZ1000 was converted into a full-blown dragbike.
Thanks to his continually expanding skills in performance modifications,
he and that old KZ1000 named "Zee Whiz" went on to set 13 national
records over 4 classes, and in his first year of national competition
placed 4th place in competition eliminator. But soon the real fun was
to begin.
Wanting to do things his way, Ray decided to do what was all along the
inevitable, to open his own shop. So in November 1990, Cycle Race Tek
was born.
